EASTER
Easter greets the Australian public by the end of January each year, regardless of the number of weeks until the actual day. Hot Cross buns, Easter eggs and the now famous Australian Easter Bilby, herald the coming of the first holiday break of the New Year. It also coincides with the start of the footy season and the encroaching coldness of winter.
Sadly, Easter has become a festival of chocolate for many rather than a time to remember the sacrifice Jesus Christ gave for us, that we may have eternal life. And while the excitement of Easter morning has been overshadowed by the traditional egg hunt, many of us wake up Easter morning to the cry ‘He is Risen,” acknowledging the empty tomb with a celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
Easter is a sacred and holy time. It provides an opportunity once again for every Christian to share their faith in Jesus Christ.
